Under certain circumstances you may be eligible for a full or partial refund of fees paid to TU Berlin. To receive a refund, you must submit the application for refund in your TU-portal (tuPORT).
You are eligible for a refund if you paid a fee twice or overpaid, take a leave of absence after re-registering, officially withdraw before enrolling, or terminate your enrollment after re-registering or enrolling.
Whether you receive a refund for fees already paid and how much you receive depends on the reason and timing of your request.
ATTENTION: Refundable amounts will NOT be offset against semester amounts due. Please always transfer the semester amount required for the respective semester in full. Otherwise, re-registration is not possible! You can find the semester amount for the current re-registration semester in your TU-portal (tuPORT) when you open the app "Study & Teaching" and choose the app "My Account Balance".
Use the form available in your TU-portal (tuPORT) for all refund requests. You can find it when you open the app "Study & Teaching" and choose "My Account Balance". In case of a credit, you will then find a refund button in the corresponding semester. You can find detailed instructions here.
If you officially withdraw from your admission before enrolling, you first have to inform us via our contact form about your intention to withdraw. As soon, we have processed the information you can apply for the refund in your TU-portal (tuPORT).
Administrative and late fees are refunded if you have not yet enrolled or re-registered.
Refugees who receive benefits according to the "Asylbewerberleistungsgesetz" and Refugees with a residence permit according to section 24 Aufenthaltsgesetz (AufenthG) can get an exemption from the administrative fee of 50 euros under certain conditions.
The exemption of the administrative fee must be applied for each semester and preferably by the end of the respective re-registration period. An exemption after re-registration is also possible, in which case the administrative fee can be refunded. You can find the re-registration deadline under the section “Semester dates” for each semester.
To apply for the exemption of the administration fee, please write an e-mail to: campuscenter (at) studsek.tu-berlin.de
Be sure to include one of the following proofs in PDF format in the attachment to your e-mail:
