# Undergraduate study

## Tuition fees: Students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland

The tuition fee you pay will vary depending on your fee status and your programme.

For many applicants, your fee status is the same as your current country of residence. However, not all cases are this straightforward. We use the information you provide on your application to determine your fee status, and will confirm this with you after you submit your application.

**"I am a UK citizen and my home is in England (or Northern Ireland, Wales, Jersey, Guernsey or the Isle of Man) and I am studying in Scotland."**

If the above statement applies to you then you will probably be classified as **Rest of UK (RUK)** for fee purposes. RUK students are UK citizens who have been resident in the UK (outside Scotland) for at least three years before the start of their programme of study.

## Tuition fees 2025/26

| Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery: Graduate entry | £36,230 |

- In November 2024, the UK Government announced that it intends to bring in secondary legislation to increase the tuition fee cap. Reflecting this, the University’s tuition fees for students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland for academic year 2025-2026 will be £9,535.
- Students participating in a study abroad year will only pay tuition fees at Glasgow, and will not be required to pay any tuition fees at the host institution abroad.
- Students who are required to **repeat a year of study** will also be required to pay fees for the repeat year.
- **Part-time fees** for students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland are pro rata to full-time fees.

### Additional fees, exceptions and notes

The following additional fees are applicable:

1. The University has updated the [Student Contract](https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/apg/studentcontract/) to reserve the right to increase its annual tuition fees for students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland in line with the announcement detailed above, and any future such increases. Updates to the Student Contract are not applicable to continuing students.
2. The exceptions to standard fees listed are correct at the time of publication. However, you should check the fee level applicable to your course of study at the time of your admission.
3. Fees quoted are for new entrants. Different fees may apply to some continuing students.
4. Special fees apply to members of staff undertaking part-time study. Details may be obtained from: [Tuition fees for members of staff](https://www.gla.ac.uk/myglasgow/staff/benefits/tuitionfees/).
5. Students who are eligible by virtue of previous attendances to sit degree examinations must enter for the examinations at the normal registration period at the beginning of the session and pay a registration fee of £170.
6. Late fees are charged at 3% with a minimum charge of £5. Late fees will not be charged to sponsors.

## Student Finance

If you normally live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland and are studying anywhere in the UK, you should apply for student finance to the relevant regional authority.

They will assess your eligibility for:

- A tuition fee loan to cover the cost of your tuition fees, and
- Your entitlement to a living cost/maintenance loan, or
- In some circumstances a non-repayable maintenance grant.

The Student Loans Company pays out tuition fee loans to the University on your behalf.

## Application deadlines

You must apply to your funding body for support before the start of each subsequent year of your programme of study.

If you do not apply for a tuition fee loan or you are assessed as ineligible for support then you will become personally liable for your tuition fees.

## You have applied. What's next?

After you have completed your application, you will receive an SLC Student Support Number.

- Please keep a note of this number as you will need to know it to complete financial registration in MyCampus.
- Your funding body will send you an award letter which will confirm how much they will pay towards your tuition fees and your entitlement to maintenance support.

## Scholarships and Bursaries

We offer a range of bursaries and scholarships to students from England, Wales and Northern Ireland, undertaking their first undergraduate degree.

### World Changers RUK Access Bursary

Our RUK Access Bursary is part of our commitment to continue to attract and support students from a diverse range of backgrounds. It is offered to those with household incomes of less than £25,001 and is a £3,000 per year award for each year of study.

There is no separate application form for the bursary. the information you provide in your application for fees and/or cost-of-living support to Student Finance England/Northern Ireland/Wales will be used to assess your eligibility.

### World Changers RUK Excellence Scholarship

The RUK Excellence Scholarship of £1,000 for each year of study will be awarded to first degree entrants who have attained A\*AA or better in one sitting at A Level. Dentistry, Medicine and Veterinary Medicine applicants are not eligible for this award.If you are sitting a Faster Route Course, the eligibility requirements are A\*A\*A in one sitting at A Level

There is no application for the RUK Excellence Scholarship; information from UCAS will be used to assess eligibility.
