If you’re a student registered with a general practitioner at SiO, you can apply for a refund for your user fees exceeding 490 NOK per year.

## What is a refund of healthcare expenses?

Healthcare refunds in SiO mean that if you are a SiO student with GP registered in SiO, you can apply for a refund for user fees exceeding 490 NOK per year. This means that you pay a maximum of 490 NOK per year, and we cover the rest of your expenses. Do you study at OsloMet Kjeller without a general practitioner in SiO? Then you can apply for a refund for user fee over NOK 655 per year.

## Expenses you can get refunded for

The refund scheme applies for the most typical expenses you have to pay a user fee for. For example, this could be:

- Appointment with your GP in SiO
- Appointment with a psychologist or physical therapist, with an agreement
- Appointment with doctor specialists with operating grants
- Appointment at an outpatient clinic at public hospital
- X-ray/MR, with an agreement
- Medications and equipment on a “blue” prescription

## How to apply for a refund

You can apply for a refund at any time during the entire year. If you are applying for an entire calendar year, the deadline is January 31 the following year. This means that if you are applying for a refund for user fee you have had in 2026, you must submit your application for refund before January 31, 2027.The money is paid out once the application is processed and approved.

## Exemption card from Helfo

If your user fee exceed the exemption card limit in the course of a year, your expenses will be covered by Helfo.
