Saunas at SiO Athletica

Five of our gyms have sauna facilities. Use of the saunas is included in the membership. You can also buy a single ticket or use a stamp card to make use of the saunas. Note that we have opening hours for when the saunas are on. At Athletica Centrum, Nydalen and Vulkan there is one sauna in the ladies' changing room and one sauna in the men's changing room.Athletica Domus has one sauna in each of the changing rooms on the second floor, as well as one sauna in each of the large changing rooms in connection to the swimming hall on the lower floor.At Athletica Blindern there is one sauna in total, and it is open for women and men every other day. Ladies can use the sauna on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and men can use it on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

Environment

For SiO and SiO Athletica, environmental considerations are important. We are currently working on an Environmental Lighthouse certification for the organisation. Due to this, we are looking at measures to reduce electricity use, among other things. One of the measures is to optimize the use of the saunas. The ovens for the saunas have traditionally been on from opening to closing, and at times we "fire for the crow" (as we say in norwegian) as no one or very few use the saunas for several hours.

Why have you chosen to have opening hours for your saunas?

This, in combination with very high electricity prices, means that from January 9th 2023 we have opening hours for when the saunas are in use.

In what time period have you chosen for the saunas to be open?

We have chosen to keep the saunas open during the times when we have the most visitors. This varies from gym to gym, and the opening hours will therefore be different at each gym.We will evaluate the opening hours of the saunas continuously.

Why have you chosen to close some saunas completely?

At Athletica Domus there are four saunas. We have chosen to switch off the saunas on the 2nd floor as they are not used much. If you still want to use sauna at Athletica Domus, you can use the changing room on the lower floor, during the opening hours the saunas on that location.At weekends, we have chosen to keep the saunas open where they are most in use. We will evaluate the opening hours of the saunas continuously.

Do I get a discount on my membership when the opening hours of the saunas are reduced?

Sauna is not one of the core products we offer, but a very nice addition for those who want to use it. SiO Athletica makes adjustments to the offer on an ongoing basis, so that as many people as possible get the best possible training, most of the time. These changes do not affect the price of the membership either up or down, but we always work to keep the prices as good as possible in relation to the offer.
