As a student in Oslo, it’s practical to have your general practitioner at SiO Health. This gives you access to experienced doctors, and you receive refunds for your user fees exceeding 490 NOK per year.

What does healthcare refunds above NOK 490 mean?

Healthcare refunds in SiO mean that if you are a SiO student with GP registered in SiO, you can [apply for a refund](https://sio.no/en/health/refund-of-healthcare-expenses) for user fees exceeding 490 NOK per year. This means that you pay a maximum of 490 NOK per year, and we cover the rest of your expenses. Do you study at OsloMet Kjeller without a general practitioner in SiO? Then you can apply for a refund for user fee over NOK 655 per year.

Where are the healthcare centers located?

What if my GP doesn’t have any available appointments?

If you can’t find an appointment with your GP that fits your schedule, we have several other skilled doctors you can book an appointment with. Log in to Helsenorge to see available appointments.We offer same‑day urgent appointments if you need it.

What about my previous GP?

If you switch your GP to SiO, you can change back to the GP you had before moving to Oslo to study at any time. If you switch back within three years and your registered home address is still the same, you are entitled to get your previous GP back — even if their patient list is full.Students who have formally moved abroad are not entitled to return to their former GP.

Are the GPs specialists?

We have 15 GPs who are specialists in general practice. In addition, you can book an appointment with one of our skilled doctors who are currently in specialist training.

## Simple and close to your campus

SiO Health is part of Norway’s national GP scheme and has 15 GPs in Oslo across [three healthcare centers](https://sio.no/en/health/our-healthcare-centers) – Blindern, Nydalen, and the city center. All our GPs are specialists in general practice.If you are a student in Oslo with a Norwegian national ID number and have paid the semester fee, you can choose a GP with us. Current or retired employees of an educational institution connected to SiO may also choose a GP through SiO. If you have children under 16, they can have the same GP as you.Switch your GP easily on [Helsenorge](https://tjenester.helsenorge.no/bytte-fastlege?searchquery=sio&searchquerytype=legekontor). The change takes effect from the 1st of the next month and gives you a GP close to your place of study.

### If the SiO doctors do not appear on Helsenorge and you have paid the semester fee

Call Helsenorge at [23327000](tel: 23327000), explain your situation, and Helsenorge will assist you with changing your general practitioner.

### How to change your GP to one within SiO as an employee

Please call Helsenorge at [23327000](tel: 23327000) to access the option to change your GP to one within SiO.

#### Apply for a health refund

If you are a SiO student with a GP registered at SiO, you can apply for a refund of user fees exceeding NOK 490 per year. This means you pay a maximum of NOK 490 annually, and we cover the rest of your expenses.

### Transferral of medical records

​When you change your regular GP, it is your responsibility to ensure that your medical records are transferred to the new GP.
