Application Guidelines and Restrictions

Duplicate applications for programs with similar topics are not allowed.
If project periods overlap, applicants may serve as the principal investigator (PI) for only one project, but may participate in multiple projects as a co-researcher.\ (If it is later confirmed that an individual is serving as PI for more than one project, scholarship eligibility will be revoked.)
Applicants may not apply as PI for multiple projects with overlapping selection periods.

Graduate Student Academic Research Group Support Program (Administration Team, Graduate School)

Program Objectives

1. Strengthen graduate students’ research capabilities through collaborative and interdisciplinary research
1. Encourage the formation and sustainability of academic research groups exploring new academic fields and topics

Eligibility

Research groups consisting of currently enrolled or coursework-completed graduate students at Korea University

※ Professional graduate school students participating in the 4th Stage BK21 project are also eligible

※ The group must include a representative student (principal researcher) who meets all of the following criteria - Currently enrolled in the General Graduate School or a professional graduate school under the 4th Stage BK21 Project - Must have at least two semesters remaining before graduation - Each research group must hold a minimum of 8 meetings per year

Period

Program runs for approximately one year (until the following February)

Support Details

Financial support for group activities such as printing, materials, and meeting expenses

K-3MT (Korea University 3 Minute Thesis) Competition (Innovation Team, Graduate School)

K-3MT is a research communication competition in which graduate students and early-career researchers present their research in just three minutes, using only one slide, in a clear and engaging way that is accessible to non-specialists.

Eligibility : Graduate students and early-career researchers affiliated with Korea University (Seoul Campus) ※ Not eligible : Students scheduled to graduate before the final round, Students with exchange-student status, Individuals participating in similar programs with the same presentation content, Individuals unable to attend the final round or the KU Research Achievement Forum.
Overview : K-3MT is both a research presentation competition and a comprehensive presentation-skills training program, consisting of:\
Research summarization training (Nature Master Class at KU)
Slide message workshops (basic sessions + advanced consulting)
Speech delivery training (basic sessions + advanced consulting)
Timeline : Orientation during the academic break → Approximately 3 months of basic and advanced training programs → K-3MT Final Competition → Presentation at the KU Research Achievement Forum

A program supporting self-organized research groups to share expertise and conduct joint research over 6 months.

Eligibility : Graduate students enrolled at Korea University (Seoul Campus), teams of 2–6 members\ The team leader must be affiliated with a BK21 Four education-research group during the entire program period.
Overview : Graduate students majoring in at least two different sub-disciplines form a team to conduct research on shared topics of interest.
