Korea University Museum

Established in 1934, the Korea University Museum holds about 100,000 items from various sectors ranging from archeology, history, folklore, art and school history, to modern history. Currently, there are seven permanent exhibition halls including Centennial Exhibition Hall, History and Folklore Exhibition Hall, and Contemporary and Modern Art Exhibition Hall.

The museum exhibits important historical and cultural heritage including the following: three national treasures - Honcheonsigye (celestial globe clock), Donggwoldo (drawing of Eastern palace depicting Changdeokgung and Changgyeonggung in 19th century), Buncheongjainhwamuntaehangari (grayish blue powdered celadon jar for placenta of the royal family of the Joseon dynasty); four treasures; and the first draft of Korea’s first constitution by Yu Jin-oh which is the number one national-designated record. Moreover, the museum also presents exhibitions on high-quality artifacts ranging from ancient paintings of Kim Hong-do, Jeong Seon, and Jang Seung-eop, to modern art works of Lee Jung-seob, Park Soo-keun, Kwon Jin-kyu, etc

Korea University Museum discovers and displays new cultural heritage through periodic special exhibitions and serves as a comprehensive cultural space that continues to offer cultural programs for adults and children to learn from and explore, based on long-standing research activities. It is the living history of the university museums in Korea.
