Students and staff participate in decision-making at the level of the university, the faculty and the individual degree programmes, in student councils, works councils and programme committees.
Centralised works councils
- The Central Works Council is elected from the works councils of the seven faculties and the Joint Works Council for executive staff and shared service units.
- Student Councils represent the interests of UvA students. The Central Student Council (CSR) represents the entire UvA and each faculty has its own Faculty Student Council (FSR).
- The CSR and the COR meet each other in the Joint Assembly.
Other participation bodies
- Every degree programme has a Programme Committee. They consist of an equal representation of students and lecturers, and advise on the design of the curriculum, quality assurance, and policy choices.
- Trade unions negotiate terms and conditions of employment (cao). You can influence this through your trade union. Within the UvA the trade unions are united in the University Committee for Local Consultation (UCLO).
