The Service centre teacher training provides students and prospective students with information and advice on cross-disciplinary issues relating to teacher training. This includes teaching careers in the state of Berlin, the structure of studies, subject combination options, special entrance requirements and options for continuing studies in another subject or university. For example, students may only begin a teacher training programme at Humboldt-Universität if they have a sufficient knowledge of German (level C1 under the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the DSH examination).

The placement office provides comprehensive information on the school placements to be completed as part of the teacher training programme and is responsible for their coordination. They help trainee teachers find a placement and select preparatory classes.

The centre cooperates with teacher training departments, study counselling, examination offices and schools in Berlin. For inter-university issues, it works together with teacher training centres in other Berlin universities.
