Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Faculty of Life Sciences

Scientists from the Faculty of Life Sciences are involved in numerous collaborative projects. Collaborative research contributes to networking on an institutional, professional and personal level. In cooperation with other universities and non-university institutions, interdisciplinary research is conducted in clusters of excellence, collaborative research centers, research groups and international projects.

Berlin University Alliance Projects forms a conglomerate of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Technische Universität Berlin as well as Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. - Social cohesion, food and health. Inclusive food system transitions - Social Cohesion and Civil Society. Interaction Dynamics in Times of Disruption
Cluster of Excellence (DFG) have the goal of promoting cutting-edge research and advancing the expansion of new research fields. - EXC 2002: Science of Intelligence (SCIoI) - EXC 2008: UniSysCat - EXC 2025: Matters of Activity. Image Space Material - EXC 2046: Math+ - EXC 2049: NeuroCure
Collaborative Research Centers (DFG) enable scientists to work on complex and long-term research projects by collaborating across the boundaries of their respective disciplines. - SFB 175: The Chloroplast as a Central Node of Acclimation in Plants - SFB 186: Molecular switches for the spatial and kinetic regulation of cellular signal transduction - SFB 1078: Protein function through protonation dynamics - SFB 1315: Mechanisms and Disorders of Memory Consolidation: From Synapses to the System Level
Research Groups (DFG) are composed of scientists who work together on a narrow research topic and contribute to the establishment of new research areas. - FOR 2569: Agricultural Land Markets - Efficiency and Regulation
Research Training Groups and Schools offer structured doctoral programs that provide the framework for interdisciplinary research already during doctoral studies. The doctoral programs are organized under the umbrella of the Humboldt Graduate School. - Berlin School of Mind and Brain - GRK 1772: Computational Systems Biology - Graduate School of Life Science - IGRK 2290: Crossing Boundaries: Molecular interactions in malaria - Leibniz Graduate School Agricultural Processes: Potentials and Costs for Greenhouse Gas Mitigation (LandPaKT). - GRK 1589/2: Sensory Computation in Neural Systems - School of Analytical Sciences Adlershof (SALSA) - ZIBI Graduate School - GRK 2046: Parasite Infections: From Experimental Models To Natural Systems
Other collaborative Projects are funded by EU programs, programs of the federal ministries and other third-party donors. - Biochar - Biochar in Agriculture - Perspectives for Germany and Malaysia - CUBES Circle - Future Food Produktion - ELaN - Development of Integrated Land Management for Sustainable Water and Substance Use in Northeast Germany - HORTINLEA - Horticultural Innovation and Learning for Improved Nutrition and Livlihood in East Africa - InDeCA - The Design of Social Institutions in Transition. Promoting the development of institutions for the management of communal resources in Central Asia. - SASCHA - Sustainable land use and climate change adaptation strategies for the West Siberian grain belt. - SURUMER - Sustainable Rubber Cultivation in the Mekong Region: Development of an Integrative Land Use Concept in the Chinese Province of Yunnan
