# Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Agrifood Chain Management
Welcome to the Agrifood Chain Management Group

The Agrifood Chain Management Group researches and teaches about sustainable, resilient and equitable agrifood systems in different country contexts. Our particular interests include
- Organization of agrifood chains and business strategy and management
- Sustainable agrifood chain development, management, and governance
- Evaluation of agrifood chain development interventions
Our research focuses on patterns and effects of change at different levels of the agrifood chain, analyzing decisions and performance in business strategy and management; the interactions among chain actors vertically and horizontally; and the intersections of agrifood chains with broader political-economic structures, including the role of the contextual environment.
We use different chain concepts and draw on different theoretical perspectives. We specialise in empirical research using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Given the complex nature of agrifood chains, we study phenomena at different levels and combine methods from applied economics and other relevant fields in social sciences.
In teaching, we offer high quality courses that combine theoretical, methodological, and practical insights and provide students with the skills and knowledge to conduct their own research. We expect and encourage active participation and incorporate current real-world examples and application exercises into our courses.
