Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin - Professional School of Education

As a central institute of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Professional School of Education (PSE) is the central contact point for all issues relating to the teacher training programme. It is also a joint forum for the various people involved in teacher training and the interested public, providing information on current trends in teacher training, discussing scientific findings and formulating recommendations for action in university-related and professional practice. This is primarily achieved via three event formats, organised annually within the common framework of a current focus in education policy. These event formats are:

PSE annual meeting\ The PSE annual meeting is primarily an internal Humboldt-Universität symposium aimed at all representatives from Didactics, Educational Sciences and Rehabilitation Sciences. It offers exchange and networking opportunities to the various people involved in university teacher training. Lectures, workshops and plenary discussions are used to develop joint concepts designed to improve university teacher training.

PSE teacher training discussion forum\ The PSE discussion forum is aimed at all the people involved and interested in teacher training in Berlin, in particular those at HU partner schools and phase II representatives. It offers exchange and networking opportunities to the people involved in the various phases of teacher training. This format uses lectures, workshops and panel discussions as a means of ensuring that the individual training phases are better coordinated in future, supporting the translation of scientific findings into educational practice, and incorporating fresh momentum from schools.

PSE lecture series\ The PSE lecture series is designed for all students and teachers at Humboldt-Universität as well as for the interested public. This event presents the latest scientific findings from a variety of disciplines and discusses them as a group. Selected experts are invited to give lectures about their research findings and subsequently open the evening to discussion. The PSE lecture series is organised in collaboration with Humboldt-Universität’s university partners.
