The 2014 Teacher Training Act and the Berlin school system lay down specific requirements of continuing education and further training for teachers, designed to be implemented during the phases of teacher training. At a university training level, this affects bachelor’s and, above all, master’s courses. While retaining the same total scope of 120 credit points, they are being redesigned - in particular within profession-related study modules - with the introduction of a placement semester.

Concepts to be implemented within the content, study organisation and regulations of the relevant courses are being developed across universities.

The course development and continuing education unit support measures for redesigning study courses or further studies and additional profession-related services, further develop existing academic programmes and implement them at a planning level. To this end, it provides those responsible with a range of communication and advice services.
