Our students bring unique perspectives to classroom discussions and make Texas A&M a diverse and inclusive place to get an education.\ \ You are an international freshman if you:
- are not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States
OR
- are not graduating from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas (please review Senate Bill 1528)
AND
- are a student without college credit
OR
- earned college credit prior to high school graduation (dual credit/early college high school)

Financial Aid and Scholarships
\ Texas A&M offers financial aid and scholarships exclusive to international students to make the cost of a college education more affordable. International freshmen, transfers and continuing students have access to university scholarships and third-party scholarships from private funders.\ International students have access to financial aid through the International Student Financial Aid Application (ISFAA) and International Texas Public Education Grants (ITPEG). When can I register for my classes?
New undergraduate students will register for their first semester classes at their New Student Conference. International Graduate Students should meet with their graduate advisor for assistance in registering for classes. All international students must complete an ISSS check-in. International students who do not complete the ISSS check-in process by the add/drop deadline of their first semester will receive a registration hold on their account that will not be removed by ISSS until the check-in process is complete. Is health insurance required?
Visit International Student Services for information on Texas A&M’s regulations on health insurance. This insurance is required for students on F-1 or J-1 visas.
Are there any international clubs/organizations I can join?
There are many clubs and organizations approved by the university. Information on various clubs, religious organizations and additional community programs, including how you can join, can be found at Student Organizations and Activities.
Am I allowed to work while attending school?
It depends upon your immigration status. It is very important to verify your eligibility by checking the on-campus employment criteria provided at https://global.tamu.edu/isss/students/employment.
