# National Scholars

Texas A&M University is consistently ranked among the top universities in the nation for National Scholar enrollment. Texas A&M is pleased to offer scholarship opportunities to College Station fall freshman admits who are identified as one of the best students in the nation, as either a National Merit Semifinalist or National Merit Finalist. Students who have multiple designations will only receive the scholarship offer that can lead to the highest valued scholarship package.\

In order to receive the National Merit Recognition Award, National Merit Finalists must name Texas A&M University as their first choice institution in the National Merit Scholarship portal.\
\
National Merit scholars (semifinalists and finalists) admitted for fall will also compete for other freshman scholarship opportunities which are offered in early February of the student’s high school senior year. These scholarships are able to be added to the guaranteed scholarships listed above.\
\
The President’s Endowed Scholarship and the National Merit Recognition Award are considered “eligible scholarships” for the purpose of determining the eligibility of non-residents (students who are not residents of Texas) for the non-resident tuition waiver. Beginning Fall 2017, students must have a minimum of $4,000 of eligible scholarships awarded by Texas A&M each academic year to qualify for the waiver. National Merit Finalists who require a 5th undergraduate year:\

| 5th Year National Merit Recognition Award Supplemental Scholarship | $3,000 | 1 | $3,000 |

National Merit Finalists who attend TAMU for more than 4 calendar years and have utilized all payments of their Merit Recognition Award may be eligible to receive this funding ($1,500 per semester) during a 5th year of undergraduate study.\
