Transfer Luminary Scholars Program

The Transfer Luminary Scholarship aims to support first-generation transfer students in achieving their educational goals at Texas A&M University. Students transferring to Texas A&M University in Fall 2024 and beyond can receive up to $3,000 per year for three years.\ \

Program Details

To be eligible for the Luminary Scholarship, you must:

• Be a Texas resident.

• Be admitted as a transfer student to Texas A&M University at the College Station site.

• Be a first-generation college student (neither parent has earned a bachelor’s degree).

• Come from a family with a total income of less than $50,000 per year, as verified through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Texas Application for Student Financial Aid (TASFA).

• Have completed at least 24 hours at your previous community college and maintained a minimum 2.75 GPR.

Continued Eligibility

To continue receiving the Luminary Scholarship, you must:

• Enroll full-time. Eligibility varies based on Enrollment Status. For details, please visit the Award Proration information page.

• Continue to demonstrate financial need as determined by FAFSA or TASFA.

• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

• Satisfy the participation requirements for the Transfer Student Program in the Office for Student Success.

• Maintain a minimum 2.75 GPR or higher while at Texas A&M University.

Duration

The scholarship is awarded for three years, contingent on maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), full-time enrollment, a minimum 2.75 GPR, and completing the Transition to Success Plan.

Application

Complete your FAFSA as soon as possible, or by April 15 at the latest, to ensure it is processed in time for the April 15 priority deadline. For eligibility details, please refer to the FAQ below.\ Note: This program is limited to approximately 50 students each year. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis as students complete their financial aid applications, submit all requested documentation, and our office verifies eligibility.

Program Requirements

Participate in the Transfer Luminary Scholars Program administered by the Transfer Student Program in the Office for Student Success.

Maintaining Eligibility After the First Year

• Complete the FAFSA or TASFA and continue to demonstrate financial need as defined by the Department of Education.

• Continue to enroll full-time.

• Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) as defined by Scholarships & Financial Aid.
