Additionally, Texas A&M University has [Prospective Student Centers](https://admissions.tamu.edu/psc) throughout the state where students can meet one-on-one with an Admissions Counselor or Financial Aid Advisor to learn more about admissions, academic programs, financial aid, housing and student services. Admissions Counselors and Financial Aid Advisors answer questions, organize events and help students with every step of the application process.\

## Course Credit - Credit by Examination

\
Undergraduate students at Texas A&M may earn course credits by demonstrating superior achievement on tests offered through several examination programs.\
\
Credit by examination is available to freshmen who plan to enter the University and to students who are currently enrolled. Credit earned by examination does not contribute to a student's grade point ratio.\
\
The University awards credit for scores on certain tests published by the Advanced Placement Program (AP), the College Level Examination Program Computer-Based Testing (CLEP CBT), the SAT Subject Tests, DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program.\
\
Texas A&M also offers qualified students opportunities to earn credits by taking departmental examinations prepared by the faculty.\

## Early Readiness High School Graduation Option

\
The Early Readiness option was created by House Bill 3 (81st Legislature). Under the provisions of the statute, research universities may partner directly with Texas school districts to offer an alternative route to a high school diploma to students who demonstrate early readiness for college.\
\

## [What is an early readiness diploma?](#a-whatisanearlyreadinessdiploma-pzwBkZ)

Under this program, students who meet the placement standards of the research universities in English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and a language other than English may be eligible to receive high school diplomas, notwithstanding any other state or local requirements. Diplomas awarded under this option will be treated as recommended high school diplomas for other purposes, such as eligibility for enrollment in universities or for financial aid.

This option may permit students to enroll in additional courses while in high school or to enroll in college early. This high school diploma option does not guarantee admission to Texas A&M — it signifies that students have met a rigorous standard that is aligned with the placement standards of a leading flagship institution.

Students must:

- Attend a Texas high school district that has entered into an agreement with a research university
- Met the requirements that demonstrate sufficient mastery in each subject area (including a language other than English)
- Speak to their high school counselor to pursue this unique opportunity

*(A) the specific competencies that demonstrate a student’s mastery of each subject area for which the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the commissioner have adopted college readiness standards;\
(B) the specific competencies that demonstrate a student’s mastery of a language other than English; and\
(C) acceptable assessments or other means by which a student may demonstrate the student’s early readiness for college with respect to each subject area and the language described by this subdivision, subject to Subsection (c); (c) The assessments or other means filed by a research university under Subsection (b)(1)(C) must be equivalent to the assessments or other means the university uses to place students at the university in courses that may be credited toward a degree requirement.*

Under the requirements of the statute, only students from participating school districts are eligible for the early readiness diploma option. Students interested in participating from other school districts should contact their school district.

Interested districts should download, execute and return the District Agreement.

## High School Enrichment Program

Texas A&M University is pleased to offer the High School Enrichment Program (HSEP) that will provide college credit and possibly high school credit for qualified high school students in the Bryan/College Station area.\*\*\
\
This program provides a chance to further your knowledge in a subject you have completed in high school and earn valuable credit for graduation at both levels. For example, if you are interested in Physics and you have completed all of the classes your high school offers, you may study Physics at the college level.\
\
Students must have completed all levels of related coursework offered at their high school to be considered for this program. Each student is eligible to take one course per fall or spring semester and course registration will be completed by the Texas A&M advisor. No summer classes are offered at this time. Classes will be held on the Texas A&M campus, and students and their parents/guardians will be responsible for any financial, lodging, scheduling or transportation considerations. As courses offered are Texas A&M courses, students accepted into HSEP are expected to adhere to the [Texas A&M Student Rules](https://student-rules.tamu.edu/academicrules/).\
\
All students who complete this program and earn college credit will be subject to the following rules: Texas A&M University Student Rules and Regulations, the Aggie Honor Code and tuition charged for excess credit hours (this could affect your eligibility for a future $1000 tuition rebate).\

\*\*It is the responsibility of the student to contact the Records Office in the Office of Admissions to request official documentation of program participation to be sent to their high school\*\**\

- You must be a junior or senior in high school in the Bryan/College Station area
- You must meet one of the following test score minimums:\*\*
  - New SAT: total score of at least 1270
  - Old SAT: combined Verbal and Math score of 1200
  - ACT composite score of 27

Please note: Admission for this program is on a space-available basis. The applicant pool is competitive and admission is not guaranteed.

- Official high school transcript

**SB 1528 Affidavit**

Students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents (or have applied for permanent residency), but have established legal presence may qualify for in-state tuition rate if they have lived in Texas for 36 months leading up to high school graduation and the 12 months prior to intended enrollment. In order to be eligible for in-state tuition rates under Senate Bill 1528, students must submit the [Affidavit of Intent to Become a Permanent Resident](https://aggie.tamu.edu/getmedia/34a45821-d5b4-410e-9a5c-ab1485690084/Residency-Affidavit.pdf)and [immigration documentation](https://www.dps.texas.gov/internetforms/Forms/DL-53.pdf) by uploading the documents via the My Documents tab in the [Applicant Information System (AIS)](https://applicant.tamu.edu/). Students who do not provide the above documentation will be charged the non-resident tuition rate.\
