McAllen Higher Education Center Scholarships
\ Scholarships are offered to students who attend the Texas A&M Higher Education Center at McAllen. Selection is based on an applicant's academic record, service, activities and demonstrated leadership.\ \ For additional scholarship opportunities from outside organizations, please see the Additional Scholarships page.\ \
Freshman
Scholarships & Financial Aid offers scholarships for incoming freshmen admitted to the Fall term. You may apply for all university-level scholarships through Common App or ApplyTexas. Students must also submit a Self-Reported Transcript Academic Record (STAR) in order to be considered for freshman scholarships. You must be an entering freshman at the McAllen Higher Education Center who has not attended another college or university. Students should also submit an aid application to be considered for scholarships that require financial need.\ \ McAllen Specific Scholarships\
- Dr. Rodolfo E. Margo '59 Scholarship
- $2000 for one year
- Must enroll full-time
- Must be a Biomedical Sciences or Public Health major
- Must have a combined family income between $95,000 and $250,000
- Must be a resident of Hidalgo or Starr County

- PALM (Passionate Aggies Leading McAllen) Scholars
- $2,500 per year for 4 years
- Must enroll full-time
- Must maintain 2.5 overall GPR
- Must successfully complete 30 semester credit hours per year (30/60/90)
- NOTE: This program is scheduled to sunset with the Freshman class entering Fall 2024. All current commitments will be honored, but the PALM Scholarship Program will be discontinued.

Continuing Students
Scholarships & Financial Aid offers scholarships for continuing students. Continuing students are students who are currently enrolled and intend to enroll in the next academic year. Undergraduate, graduate, professional, and international students are encouraged to apply. You may apply for all University-level scholarships through the University Scholarship Application. Students should also submit an aid application to be considered for scholarships that require financial need. \ \ McAllen Specific Scholarships:\
- AT&T Foundation Grant
- Up to $2000 for one year
- Must enroll full-time
- Must be a major in the College of Public Health
- Must be a resident of or worked in a Colonias community and indicate this on the University Scholarship Application

- $4000 for one year
- Must enroll full-time
- Must have completed 30 hours at Texas A&M McAllen Higher Education Center
- Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPR
- Must be a Biomedical Sciences or Public Health major
- Must have a combined family income between $95,000 and $250,000
- Must be a resident of Hidalgo or Starr County

- Up tp $1250 for one year
- Must enroll full-time
- Must be Construction Science major

Application & Deadline
Freshman \
- Students applying between December 15 and March 1 must use CommonApp or ApplyTexas.
- Prospective students can apply using CommonApp or ApplyTexas for Freshman Admission until December 1. Students must complete the admissions application along with the scholarship questions to be considered. Students must also submit a Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) in order to be considered for freshman scholarships.
\ Continuing\
- Continuing students apply using the University Scholarship Application. Students who have completed at least one semester and have a Texas A&M GPR are eligible to complete the University Scholarship Application. The University Scholarship Application deadline is February 1.
\ Transfer\
- Transfer students can apply using CommonApp or ApplyTexas.
