# Cost of Attendance

\
Your cost of attendance covers estimated tuition and fees charged by the university, as well as basic living expenses you may have while you are attending school.\
\

## [Cost of Attendance Calculation Information](#a-costofattendancecalculationinformation-g3hVvX)

The cost of attendance (COA) is an estimate of what it costs the typical student to attend Texas A&M University. These estimated numbers are based on costs published by Texas A&M University, student surveys, and local market data. Federal, state, and institutional financial aid cannot exceed this cost.  When comparing financial aid packages from other schools, make sure that you are comparing the total costs of attending that school and offered aid compared to the costs and aid offered from Texas A&M University.\
\
For detailed information regarding tuition & fees and COA estimates, please use the [Tuition Calculator](https://tuition.tamu.edu/undergraduate).  To use the calculator, you will need to know:\
\

- Your classification (undergraduate, graduate, or professional)
- Your Texas residency status
- Your housing plans
- The tuition rate code you selected
- Your major

\
Tuition and fees vary by major and tuition rate codes. Optional fees and adjustments may not be accounted for in COA.  You can also visit your financial aid portal in [Howdy](https://howdy.tamu.edu/uPortal/normal/render.uP) to review your specific COA. Visit our [Affordability page](https://aggie.tamu.edu/billing-and-payments/cost-and-tuition-rates/affordability) for additional information.
