Professional Summary

Edwin Price, Ph.D. is a professor and Howard G. Buffett Endowed Chair on Conflict and Development in the Department of Agricultural Economics. Price is also director of the Center on Conflict and Development at Texas A&M University. His  academic, research and extension activities are focused on the economics of armed conflict, international development and foreign assistance. Price leads and administers international research and development activities funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, the World Bank and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.

In 2006, Price assisted in founding the Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture and by 2o12 contributed to a grant portfolio of over $73.9 million. He authored the PL 106-373, Famine Prevention and Freedom from Hunger Improvement Act of 2000, which passed and modernized the partnership of the U.S. government with land grant universities for international agricultural development.

Price was the founding economist member of the International Rice-based Cropping Systems Network in 1975, where he published the seminal guide for cropping systems research. He also served as the advisor to the Federal Reserve Board on consumer food prices and agricultural production. Prior to coming to Texas A&M University, in 1962 Price formed first 4-H Clubs and national 4-H program standards in Malaysia as a Peace Corps volunteer.
