Selection
Texas A&M uses a custom Texas A&M gown for undergraduate and master degree candidates in place of the black design used previously. Texas A&M has authorized doctoral candidates to wear the custom maroon A&M robe during the commencement ceremonies. The custom Texas A&M robe is maroon with black velvet/velveteen chevrons and black velvet/velveteen front panels. The mortarboard or tam is also black. The doctoral hood is black fabric trimmed with velvet (associated with your doctoral degree) and the maroon and white satin on the inside.\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Cap and gown for Baccalaureate Degree Candidates\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Cap and gown forMaster's DegreeCandidates \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ Cap and gown for Doctoral Degree Candidates\ \ \ \ \ \ \

Corps of Cadets, Military Personnel, and U.S. Veteran & Service Member Cords
Current Corps of Cadets Members
Members of the Corps of Cadets who are Bachelor's Degree candidates may wear the Class "A" cadet uniform (senior boots optional) in lieu of academic regalia. \ \
Former Corps of Cadets Members
Undergraduate candidates who desire to wear the cadet uniform for graduation should report to the Office of the Assistant Commandant for Operations & Training in the Stephen Ash Leadership Learning Center (LLC) on the northeast corner of the Corps Quadrangle between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to obtain a letter of authorization to wear, and permission to rent, the uniform. Students renting a cadet uniform must have completed their corps career in good standing, have a regulation haircut, and present proper military appearance to receive a letter. Rented uniforms must be obtained from the Military Property Warehouse no later than the day before graduation and returned by the following Monday. Candidates will use the Texas A&M purchasing system, Market Place, to pay the rental fee. A confirmation print-out of the fee payment must be presented at the Warehouse to receive the uniform. \ \
U.S. Military Personnel
U.S. military personnel who are candidates for doctoral degrees must wear the appropriate academic regalia. Those who are candidates for other degrees may wear the appropriate uniform. \ \
U.S. Veteran and Military Service Member Cords
All active duty, National Guard, Reserves, and U.S. veteran degree candidates, who have served honorably, are eligible to receive and wear the red, white, and blue cords with academic regalia during commencement ceremonies. These cords signify the appreciation Texas A&M University feels toward our military/veteran students for their sacrifice. An Aggie Military/Veteran Reception will be held for military/veteran degree candidates and their guests. The reception will be held and these cords will be provided to eligible degree candidates. Military/veteran degree candidates may contact the Veteran Resource & Support Center at aggievets@tamu.edu or by calling 979-845-3161 for further details.
