## Non-Resident Student Resources
\
### Am I an Out-of-State Student?
The [application and admissions process](https://admissions.tamu.edu/freshman/apply) for out-of-state students is the same as in-state students. Students will be considered out-of-state if they are completing high school in a state other than Texas and their legal residence is not in Texas. Texas residents completing high school in another state do not count and are eligible for in-state tuition. If there was a mistake and you were classified as a nonresident despite meeting requirements to receive resident tuition.\
\
### Do Out-of-State Students Qualify for Top 10% Automatic Admission?
Out-of-state students do not qualify for Top 10% automatic admissions. Your application will be reviewed holistically, meaning everything included in your application will be taken into consideration.\
## Scholarships and Financial Aid
\
Out-of-state students have access to the same university scholarships and private scholarships Texas residents do. Make sure to take advantage of every opportunity you find to lower your college costs.\
\
### Cost of Attendance
Non-resident students pay a [different tuition rate](https://aggie.tamu.edu/billing-and-payments/cost-and-tuition-rates/cost-of-attendance) and set of fees than Texas residents. Because of this, your total cost of enrollment will be different. Use our [Tuition Calculator](https://tuition.tamu.edu/) to get the most accurate picture.\
\
### Scholarships
Out-of-state students are eligible to apply for [all University level scholarships](https://aggie.tamu.edu/financial-aid/types-of-aid/scholarships/undergraduate-scholarships) through the [Common App](https://apply.commonapp.org/createaccount) or ApplyTexas Application. The scholarship deadline for fall is December 1.\
\
To be eligible for a [non-resident tuition waiver](https://aggie.tamu.edu/financial-aid/types-of-aid/scholarships/competitive-scholarship-non-resident-tuition-waiver), a student must be awarded and maintain competitive scholarships of at least $4,000 per academic year in order to qualify.\
\
### Non-Resident Tuition Waiver
Out-of-state students who receive a competitive academic scholarship from Texas A&M may be able to [waive the additional tuition and fees](https://aggie.tamu.edu/financial-aid/types-of-aid/scholarships/non-resident-tuition-waiver) from non-resident costs.\
