Students may apply to the department for admission to either the Master of Science or the Doctor of Philosophy program of study. Residents of Indiana may apply for enrollment as post-baccalaureate non-degree students if they wish to take graduate level course work in agricultural economics, but prefer not to be enrolled in a regular degree program. A faculty committee reviews an applicant's credentials in order to recommend admission to the graduate program. Each prospective student must provide all of the following:\

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

APPLICATION DEADLINES

The Department of Agricultural Economics accepts students for the fall semester only.

The deadline to submit applications for fall 2026 consideration is February 15, 2026. A completed application entails the paid application fee, academic statement of purpose (two-page limit), personal history statement, CV, official TOEFL or IELTS scores (if required), official transcripts, and three letters of recommendation.

PREREQUISITES

Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following four (4) prerequisite areas. These prerequisites may be satisfied by courses taken in prior degree programs, or courses may be taken at Purdue University without credit. Since progress towards the M.S. degree can be delayed by incomplete preparation (especially in mathematics), students are encouraged to complete prerequisites prior to enrollment at Purdue. Students are expected to complete these prerequisites as early as possible in their program and no later than second semester of resident study.

It is important to recognize that although satisfaction of the basic academic requirementsbelow does not guarantee graduate admission, failure to satisfy these requirements may lead to automatic denial of admission.
