Campus Housing
As a Purdue student, you have a variety of housing options available both on- and off-campus your first year and beyond. After you accept your offer of admission, log in to myPurdue to access the housing portal application. There is a short delay of approximately two days between the time you accept your offer of admission and when you can access the housing portal in myPurdue.
University Residences
West Lafayette
First-year students in West Lafayette are encouraged to live on-campus, and while it is not required, many students choose this housing option. University Residences are within easy walking distance of Purdue’s academic campus, with public transportation readily available. The housing application is accessible via your myPurdue portal about two days after accepting your offer of admission. You’ll have the option to rank your room type preference and submit roommate preferences with notifications of room and roommate assignments to be released on or around mid-July. Housing accommodation requests may also be submitted through the Disability Resource Center.
Indianapolis
First-year students at Purdue University in Indianapolis have the opportunity to live on or close to campus. The housing application is accessible via your myPurdue portal about two days after accepting your offer of admission. You’ll have the opportunity to rank room type preferences and submit roommate preferences with notifications of room and roommate assignments to be released on or around mid-July. Housing accommodation requests may also be submitted through the Disability Resource Center.
University Residence Deadlines
Summer beginners:
- You’ll have the opportunity to rank your room type preferences and submit roommate preferences. The priority application deadline to participate in the roommate matching process is April 15. Accept your offer by April 11 to ensure the housing application is available to you by April 15.
- Separate housing applications will need to be completed for the summer and fall terms.
- The University Residences housing application, which guarantees a space for first-year students, will remain open until May 5. This is also the deadline to submit housing accommodation requests to the Disability Resource Center.

Fall beginners:
- You’ll have the opportunity to rank your room type preferences and submit roommate preferences. The priority application deadline to participate in the roommate matching process is April 15. Accept your offer by April 11 to ensure the housing application is available to you by April 15.
- If you’re interested, April 15 is also the priority deadline to apply for a Learning Community. Space is limited and placement announcements are made in May.
- The University Residences housing application, which guarantees a space for first-year students, will remain open until May 5. This is also the deadline to submit housing accommodation requests to the Disability Resource Center.
Spring beginners:
- The University Residences housing application, which guarantees a space for first-year students, opens for the spring term on Oct. 1 and will remain open until Nov. 30.

Fraternity, Sorority and Cooperative Life
Purdue is home to over 80 fraternities and sororities including 10 multicultural fraternities and sororities and nine historically African-American fraternities and sororities. A part of Purdue’s student life for more than a century, the fraternity and sorority community focus on scholarship, service, philanthropic giving, leadership and brotherhood/sisterhood for many college students. Most fraternity and sorority chapters recruit in the fall, with many also recruiting in the spring.
Cooperative Housing has been a part of the Purdue community for over 75 years. As a member of a cooperative, you collaborate to take care of the house, cook meals, plan philanthropic and social events, and encourage studying and scholarship. The main difference between cooperatives compared to fraternities and sororities is that cooperatives do not have a national affiliation, so each cooperative house is unique to Purdue’s campus. Because members pitch-in to complete cooking and cleaning duties around the house, cooperatives are an affordable living option right on campus.
Purdue is home to 11 cooperative houses: four men’s houses and seven women’s houses. If you are interested in joining a cooperative house, you can participate in recruitment in both the fall and spring semesters.
Off-Campus Housing
