Assignments are a key part of being a student. It is important that you approach each assignment with a plan so that you have the best chance of success.

## What to do with your assignment instructions

When you get your assignment instructions, it is a good idea to start planning how you are going to complete it. The first step is to [review your assignment task](https://learningessentials.auckland.ac.nz/key-study-skills/analysing-questions/) so that you understand:

- What is expected of you
- The areas you will need to focus on
- The types of sources you will need to refer to and draw upon
- How your assignment will be structured
- How long the assignment should be
