##### Te Rourou Tātaritanga

[TPM](https://www.tepunahamatatini.ac.nz/) is a Centre of Research Excellence within Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland.

##### A Better Start: E Tipu E Rea

[A Better Start](https://www.abetterstart.nz/) was one of the 11 National Science Challenges that were initiated by the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment in 2014. It worked with data aiming to help children, teenagers, and their families and whānau, to achieve the best possible starts in life.

##### Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI)

[The IDI](https://www.stats.govt.nz/idi) is StatsNZ’s platform linking together data on individuals from a large range of sources, including the health system, work and income, the education system, the justice system, and housing. The IDI has become a widely used resource, by both COMPASS and many of the other groups linked here.

##### Virtual Health Information Network (VHIN)

[VHIN](https://vhin.co.nz/) comprises researchers, analysts, and other professionals working with health data to improve the wellbeing of New Zealanders. The website provides many useful resources specifically for working with the IDI, and the network offers day courses in that area as well.

##### International Social Survey Programme (ISSP)

[The ISSP](http://www.issp.org) is an effort by roughly 45 countries to conduct comparable surveys in areas of social science interest every year. It kicked off in 1985, and in New Zealand, Professor Phil Gendall of Massey University ran the surveys from 1991 until his retirement in 2010. COMPASS took on this responsibility in 2013, and also curates the data for storage locally within [the University’s Figshare repository](https://auckland.figshare.com/compass).

##### New Zealand Election Study (NZES)

[The NZES](https://www.nzes.net) has been run after each general election in New Zealand since 1990. COMPASS has administered the surveys and curated the datasets for the 2011, 2014, 2017, and 2023 studies.

##### National Institute for Health Innovation (NIHI)

[NIHI](https://www.nihi.auckland.ac.nz/) is based within the School of Population Health at Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland. It tests innovative approaches to preventing disease and improving people’s health.
