'The ascending vine of cancer knowledge'

Cancer is the leading cause of death in Aotearoa New Zealand. Every day, 60 people hear the words ‘you have cancer’. It accounts for nearly a third of all deaths – and the impact is even greater among Māori, who face significantly higher mortality rates. At Te Aka, we are uniting researchers, clinicians, communities and funders to drive change.

Our work is guided by a bold vision: to improve cancer outcomes for all – through transdisciplinary research, grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and powered by equity, innovation, and community partnership.
