We believe that financial support should not be a barrier to academic success, which is why we offer a range of scholarships to our students. Our scholarships recognize and reward academic and personal achievement, financial need, and other criteria, providing opportunities for students to pursue their educational goals.
PharmD Admissions Scholarships
Excellence Scholarships
Excellence Scholarships recognize and reward outstanding achievement and potential in our students. This suite of merit-based scholarships, including the Vice Chancellor's Scholarship for Inclusive Excellence in Pharmacy, the Dussin Scholarship, and the Non-Resident Tuition Scholarship, aims to support students who demonstrate exceptional talent, leadership, and dedication to their studies.
Scholarship: Awarded to newly admitted students pre-matriculation
Award amount: Variable
Criteria:
- Selection is based solely on a holistic review of applicants’ PharmCAS applications and their performance during the admissions interview.
- No additional application or nomination process required.
Awardees will be notified of their scholarship award via email, either concurrently with their admissions offer letter or shortly thereafter.
Financial Need Scholarships
The Pharmacy Opportunity Scholarship offers vital support to newly admitted students who demonstrate financial need, helping to make their academic goals more accessible.
Scholarship: Awarded to newly admitted students pre-matriculation
Award amount: Variable, typically ranging from approximately $2,500-$23,000 per year
Criteria:
- Eligibility is determined by the FAFSA and a Supplemental UC San Diego Financial Aid application, which becomes available in March and is required for all students seeking need-based aid. An estimate e-form is available to admitted students before March; however, please note that the estimate is only as accurate as the information provided.
Admitted students will receive a link to the estimate form as part of their offer of admission, and scholarship awards will be determined based on the information provided; awardees will be notified of their award via email after a review of the submitted form.
PharmD Enrolled Student Scholarships
Internal Scholarships
Our program offers a range of scholarships to support students pursuing their pharmacy education, made possible through generous donor funding.
Scholarship: Awarded to eligible P2-P4 students
Award amount: Variable
Criteria:
- Eligibility is determined by donor-specific requirements which may include applications that will be reviewed by the program’s Scholarship Committee.
Our Office of Student Affairs administers these scholarships on the Scholarship Committee’s behalf and notifies awarded students via email.
External Scholarships
Awards offered by various external organizations and entities can provide additional valuable support to students pursuing their pharmacy education. See how one of our current students benefited from an external scholarship here.

Criteria:
- Eligibility will be determined by the specific requirements and criteria set forth by the scholarship provider, as outlined in the application.
Our Office of Student Affairs will notify students via email as external scholarship application links and eligibility criteria become available. Students may also conduct independent web searches for other available scholarships.
