Research Summary
Dr. Yousif’s research is broadly interested in adverse drug events, with a particular interest in drug-induced kidney injury (DI-AKI) in adult and pediatric patients. Current research efforts are focused on utilizing electronic health record (EHR) data and real-world evidence (RWE) from large nationwide data repositories to elucidate the risk factors of DI-AKI in patients treated with nephrotoxic drugs. Additionally, Dr. Yousif’s research aims to apply statistical and machine learning methods to predict health outcomes across various diseases and health conditions.

Key Contributions
- Led the conceptualization and development of a first-of-kind relational database to standardize medications concepts across medical devices data.
- Led the conceptualization and development of statistical predictive models using machine learning techniques across several diseases, including acute kidney injury and refractory epilepsy.
- Conceptualized and executed health economics and outcomes research analyses across various diseases and disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease, immunodeficiency, and autoimmune disorders.
- Transitioned the biostatistics courses in SSPPS to use R as the main statistical analysis software.
