## Profile

An alumnus of Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego, Mark Merrifield, PhD ’89, is an expert in global and regional sea-level change. His work leading the Center for Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation focuses on identifying and implementing new tools for the early detection of extreme high tides and winter swells to help communities prepare for future flooding in vulnerable locations.
