Meet Sawyer Robertson

Tell us a bit about your background:  I have a background in research mathematics and data science. Since attending UCSD I have greatly enjoyed experiencing teaching, mentoring students, and having the support to travel to research conferences.

Describe your area of research at UC San Diego:I primarily do research in applied graph theory with Alex Cloninger. I am interested in all sorts of problems that arise from network science, including random graphs, stochastic processes on large networks, and optimal transportation on graphs.

Describe your community involvement at UC San Diego: I am a member of the Mathematics Graduate Student Council and I recently started taking tennis lessons through UCSD Recreation, which has been very exciting. In San Diego I really enjoy running and doing yoga, and eating new and adventurous flavors of ice cream.

Why UC San Diego? UCSD has a strong list of research faculty who work in applied network science, and is located near the beautiful Pacific ocean.
