Robert M. Chesney

Robert (Bobby) Chesney is the Dean of the University of Texas School of Law, where he also holds the James A. Baker III Chair in the Rule of Law and World Affairs. Before becoming dean, he was Texas Law’s Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for 12 years. He founded and continues to guide the Integrated Cybersecurity Studies program at UT’s Strauss Center for International Security and Law.

As Chief of Staff, Eden Harrington works closely with the dean and leadership to advance law school projects, operations, and initiatives. As Associate Dean for Experiential Education, she cultivates Texas Law’s wide range of experiential offerings for students, works with faculty and staff involved in experiential education, and expands awareness of our offerings and the professional achievements of clinicians and lecturers.

A member of the law school faculty since 2013, and associate dean since 2022, Susan Morse is charged with curating the Texas Law curriculum, promoting pedagogical excellence, and addressing a wide range of faculty and student-related issues.

Melissa Wasserman

Melissa Wasserman joined the University of Texas law faculty in 2016 and was named an associate dean in 2022. She is charged with enhancing the quality and quantity of the scholarship of our research faculty, expanding internal and external awareness of that work, and encouraging a robust intellectual life for our community.

Elizabeth T. Bangs

Elizabeth Bangs has been Texas Law’s dean of students for more than a decade. She counsels students on a wide range of academic, personal and professional matters, and she is the primary advisor for the Law School’s 50+ student organizations. Together with the members of the Student Affairs team, Bangs coordinates and supports a range of student services, programming, and special events.

Melinda Heidenreich

Melinda Heidenreich joined Texas Law as Chief Business Officer in April 2021. She is responsible for all accounting, budgeting, and financial transactions for the school and oversees human resource and faculty affairs transactions and support. Melinda has over 18 years of administrative and financial experience at the university.

Liz Anderson Hilton has been part of Texas Law’s leadership team since 2017. She comes to the role of editor-in-chief of the magazine for Texas Law after having led the Law School’s strategic relationships with our 25,000 alumni worldwide from 2017 to 2023.

Christopher Roberts joined Texas Law in 2014, and oversees the law school’s strategic messaging, branding, and communications, leading a team of creative artists at the law school to produce the words, images, and events that tell the Texas Law story and promote the achievements of its people.

Gregory J. Smith

As the head of the law school’s Continuing Legal Education program since 2012. Greg Smith oversees all aspects of the educational and business operations of CLE, including program development, event management, marketing, finance and technology. He is a past president of the Association for Continuing Legal Education (ACLEA).

Matthew R. Steinke

Matt Steinke became the Assistant Dean for Information Services and Director of the Tarlton Law Library in 2024.  As Tarlton’s director, he leads an exceptional library team and works to ensure that library services and collections support the dynamic research and information needs of the Texas Law community.  He currently teaches the law school’s general Advanced Legal Research course.  Prior to coming to Texas Law in 2012, he was the Head of Access Services at the Moritz Law Library at the Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State University.
