Info For

First-Generation Students

If you’re a first-generation student interested in UT, you’ve come to the right place! Nearly a quarter of our undergrad student population identify as first-gen. Not only are first-generation students like you an important part of our campus culture, you’re also celebrated and supported at every step of your Longhorn journey.

Am I a First-Gen Student?

A first-generation college student is defined as a student whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not have the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree. Many students whose parents have degrees from outside of the United States also identify as first-gen.
