Timeline:
The Veterans Application is available starting in August, with a deadline of March 1 for proposed enrollment in the following fall semester. Once applications are complete, including all required materials, applicants will be notified of decisions on a rolling basis. For applications completed by February 15, applicants can expect a decision within six weeks. Those completing after February 15 will be notified in six to eight weeks or by June at the latest. Brown University does not engage in same-day recruitment and registration for the purpose of enrolling Service members.
Binding Admission Option:
We offer rolling binding admission as an opportunity for students who are ready to commit to Brown. If you are admitted under our rolling binding admission plan, you will be required to withdraw all pending applications—including those you may have already submitted to regular, rolling or (open) early action programs.
Application Requirements:
- Completed and submitted application.
- Final high school transcript, including date of graduation, sent from the school.
- Transcripts sent directly from all colleges or universities attended (if applicable).
- Two letters of recommendation, requested using the application tool. If you have recent college courses, we prefer at least one academic recommendation from a professor or other instructor. The second recommendation should come from a military commanding officer or supervisor. Alternatively, if you are unable to gather a recommendation letter from a military commanding officer or supervisor, civilian employers or community leaders who can speak to your experience and talents may submit the second recommendation.
Optional / Supplemental Materials:
- A short video introduction is highly recommended and strongly encouraged by the admission committee. The video introduction may be submitted via your Brown Applicant Portal. Sharing a 90-second personal video is a helpful way to show us more about yourself, in your voice, beyond the information you provided in your application. Please submit your video introduction within one week of receiving your application acknowledgement email from Brown University that contains your Applicant Portal log in credentials. You are welcome to record in a secure setting and do not need to disclose your location in the video. Video introductions, along with all other application materials, are kept highly confidential and will not be shared outside the admission committee. The video introduction will not be publicly accessible at any time. Maintaining strict confidentiality is of the utmost importance and critical to the work of the Office of College Admission.

- Test scores (SAT or ACT) are neither required nor expected. Applicants may self-report scores in the application or have them sent from the ACT or SAT. Admitted applicants with self-reported scores may be asked for official verification.
Note: We strongly encourage you to submit as many optional materials as you feel will help the Board of Admission gain a full understanding of your candidacy and conduct a thorough review of your application.
