If you are accomplished in visual art you may include additional supplements with your application through SlideRoom.
Portfolio Submission Details:
- 10 to 15 images (up to 5 MB each)
- Accepted image formats include .jpg, .gif, .png, or .pdf
We cannot assist students with issues submitting their supplements unless they have created an account in SlideRoom and started their portfolio by November 4 11:59 PM EST (Early Decision and QuestBridge Match applicants) or January 7 11:59 PM EST (Regular Decision applicants). Creating a SlideRoom account and starting your portfolio well before submitting your material is strongly recommended to ensure that you are able to meet the submission requirements. A $10 non-refundable processing fee is also required at the time of submission. If you have a Common Application fee waiver, the SlideRoom fee will automatically be waived. Fee waivers can also be requested by emailing admission@brown.edu prior to submitting your SlideRoom portfolio. QuestBridge applicants submitting an art portfolio should use the QuestBridge visual art program in SlideRoom.
Students uploading a visual art submission should note the following:
- Portfolios should be a strong supplement to your application, thoughtfully conceived and demonstrating above-average visual art talent.
- Class assignments, as well as work produced outside the classroom indicating your personal area of interest, are encouraged.
- If photographs are included, they are expected to go beyond hobbyist photography such as vacation snapshots or casually conceived images, and should include a variety of artistically sound content. Upload one clear image of a single artwork per upload. Do not combine multiple artworks into a single collage-style image.
- A short statement about your interest in art may be included as well.
