Our new image film offers a look inside the D-BSSE – our research, education, facilities, and culture – and introduces some of the scientists who make it such a special place.

What drives us every day are questions like these: Can we use organoids to test new drugs? Which genes cause diseases? Could CRISPR-engineered bacteria serve as a diagnostic tool? How do we interpret Big Data? And how do we track viruses and their evolution in wastewater? Discover our interdisciplinary approach to research – and what students learn at the Basel-based ETH-Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE). Guided by curiosity we empower students, scientists and staff members to think big and innovate. Because understanding biosystems helps us to address the great environmental and medical challenges of our time.
