Sometimes you will obtain information from friends, family, and various websites. Although this may be convenient, it is possible that the information may not apply to your specific situation. Please contact ISSS first for all immigration concerns and questions.

Students

To schedule an in-person, phone or Zoom appointment with a student advisor:

What are the appointment times for students?

Appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes and are available Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at the following times:

• Mornings: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (last appointment begins at 11:30 AM)
• Afternoons: 1:30 to 4:00 PM (last appointment begins at 3:30 PM)

No scheduled appointments will be taken on Wednesdays.

Response Team

An advisor is also available (by phone or in-person) during the following times for emergencies without a scheduled appointment:

• 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (noon)
• 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM*

Response team is not available after noon on Wednesdays.

Advising Queue

Please note that Express Advising will change from Mondays and Fridays to Tuesdays and Fridays beginning October 1, 2024.

The Advising Queue offers students the opportunity to meet on Zoom with an ISSS advisor for about 5 minutes during Express Advising to ask questions or discuss concerns. Students can drop in virtually at the times listed below – no appointment needed.

• Mondays and Fridays from 1:30-3:30 p.m. (now until September 27, 2024)
• Tuesdays and Fridays from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. (starting Oct 1, 2024)

Students can access the Advising Queue system at the times indicated by visiting the ISSS Queue (https://go.illinois.edu/isssq).

Advising appointments are also available for spouses and families of international students regarding immigration, cultural, social, and educational needs. When scheduling an appointment, please indicate this as the reason for the appointment.

Faculty, Staff and Scholars

To schedule an in-person or virtual appointment with a scholar advisor:

• Call 217.333.1303 (recommended)
• Visit the Scholar branch in-person: First Floor, International Studies Building (910 S. Fifth St. Champaign). Please note that in-person services are limited.
