The Undergraduate Minor in Hip Hop Culture and the Arts is an interdisciplinary program housed in the College of Fine Applied Arts. Students completing this program will explore fundamental content in Hip Hop history, generate original creative work, engage with critical cultural considerations, develop introductory skills with relevant digital media, and participate in youth programming in the Champaign-Urbana community.

The Minor is open to all undergraduate students, with no prerequisite requirements. The student is responsible for notifying their college of the desire to pursue the minor by completing and appropriately filing the [Statement of Intent to Pursue a Campus-Approved Minor](https://go.illinois.edu/MinorDeclaration).

## Student Learning Outcomes

- **Foundations:** Students will demonstrate understandings of the history and evolution of Hip Hop culture.
- **Creativity:** Students will generate original work in at least one artistic practice relevant to Hip Hop culture.
- **Culture:** Students will engage with Hip Hop scholarship that relates critical cultural understandings to inform their own work as emerging artists, scholars, and professionals.
- **Digital Media:** Students will develop skillsets and understandings around digital media to engage globally and locally in contemporary Hip Hop culture.
