Supplemental Emergency Award Program for Graduate Students

The Graduate College is pleased to announce the Supplemental Emergency Award Program for Graduate Students, an initiative of the Office of the Provost and the Vice Provost for Graduate Education with support of the Academic Deans.

This program provides one-time emergency funding for graduate students who have experienced educational disruptions that result in unanticipated financial challenges due to recent federal actions (for example, graduate students who have lost an assistantship or funding due to the termination of a federal grant or graduate students who have incurred unexpected research, travel or housing costs due to visa status changes or grant terminations). Awardees must be continuing in a graduate program and in good academic standing.

Awards will be made up to $1,500, including required matching funds from the academic unit. The Graduate College will provide two-thirds of the amount awarded and the academic unit will provide one-third (for example: $1,000 from the Graduate College; $500 from the department)

Requests are made to the Graduate College by academic departments, not by individual students. Graduate students who believe they are eligible are encouraged to speak with their department.

The number of departmental nominations allowed are based on graduate student enrollment. Initially, these are:

Departmental submissions are made via an online request form in Slate. Staff who have approved roles in the Graduate College Roles and Access Manager as Executive Officers, Directors of Graduate Study or Graduate Program Contacts have access to submit requests.
