International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is committed to providing culturally sensitive services of the highest quality. We strive to create an environment that is conducive to a successful educational, personal, and professional experience. We serve our international population and campus units through advising, immigration services, programming, advocacy, and outreach. ISSS is a unit of [Illinois International](https://international.illinois.edu).

## Advising

ISSS offers one-on-one advising sessions to address specific situations. [Appointments are available](https://isss.illinois.edu/about/appointments/) for students, scholars, staff, and faculty, as well as their [dependents](https://isss.illinois.edu/resources/dependents/).

## Regulatory Compliance

ISSS is federally mandated to maintain and update records and ensure all student and scholar information is up-to-date in the Student Exchange and Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Students and scholars can make requests to update their records via [iSTART](https://sunapsis.illinois.edu/iSTART/controllers/start/start.cfm).

## Status Processing

ISSS works with [campus units](https://isss.illinois.edu/departments/) to prepare J-1 immigration documents for scholars as well as H-1 applications for faculty and staff.

## Programs

ISSS collaborates with [Global Communications](https://globalcom.illinois.edu) to offer [educational, cultural, and social programs](https://calendars.illinois.edu/list/3715) throughout the year that enrich the experiences of international and domestic students, scholars, and families.

## Resources

ISSS provides print and online publications designed to help navigate life on campus and in Champaign-Urbana.

## Outreach

ISSS [collaborates](https://isss.illinois.edu/resources/external-links/) with multiple campus units, U.S. government agencies, educational foundations, program sponsors, and community organizations. These relationships allow us to provide enhanced services.

## Communication

All international students and scholars receive a regular e-newsletter, which includes timely updates and information about current activities and programs.
