# Collaboration in North America

Lund University collaborates and cooperates with top universities all over the world through international networks, programmes and platforms.

Global Dynamic Engagement (GDE) is Lund University's approach to enhance our international impact in research, education, innovation and cooperation. In this work, democracy, human rights, academic freedom, and accountability are core values.

Through GDE, we aim to strengthen and develop our collaborations in North America. Our priority activities here are outlined in an annual roadmap.

## Exchange agreements

Today, Lund University has 32 student exchange agreements with Canadian universities, 11 of which are university-wide, and 40 student exchange agreements with American universities, of which 21 are university-wide. The University also has Study Abroad agreements with American universities, both at university-wide and faculty/department level.

## Network activities

### Universitas 21 (U21)

U21 is a leading global network of research-intensive universities that encourages its members to share good examples and to collaborate across borders.

U21 has five members in North America:

- McMaster University (Canada)
- University of California, Davis (USA)
- University of Connecticut (USA)
- University of Maryland (USA)
- University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA)

For all higher education institutions, there are university-wide declarations of intent, so-called 'Memorandum of Understanding', and student mobility agreements (with the exception of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). Find out more about U21 and other global collaborations:

### University-wide partnerships

Among the many strong partnerships that Lund University has been involved in over the years, the partnerships with the University of Toronto in Canada and the University of California, Berkeley in the USA have received special attention and resources.
