## How to apply for an open position

Lund University uses the Varbi recruitment system for all recruitments. Applying is straightforward and only takes a few steps:

1. In the vacancy announcement, and click 'Login and apply'.
2. Log in to Varbi or create a new account.
3. Complete the application form and upload the required documents.
4. Click 'Submit application'.

All applications must be submitted through the recruitment system. Applications sent by email or via any other channel cannot be considered.

### Good to know when applying

- Deadline: Applications close at 23:59 (CET) on the final day listed in the announcement.
- File formats: You can upload files in .pdf, .txt, .rtf, .doc or .docx format, up to 10 MB.
- Save as you go: You can start your application, save your progress and return later to complete and submit it.
- Incomplete applications: Applications that are incomplete will not be considered.

## After you apply

- Application review: All applications are reviewed based on the criteria in the vacancy announcement.
- Interviews and references: Shortlisted candidates may be invited to an interview and asked to provide references.
- Notification: All applicants will be informed once the position has been filled.

### Appeal an employment decision

If you have applied for a position at Lund University and another applicant has been selected, you have the right to appeal the decision.

**Please note** that decisions on doctoral positions cannot be appealed.

## What happens after accepting a job offer?

New international staff will receive support and guidance from the University on settling into Sweden and starting your new role.

If you are moving to Lund University from outside the EU or the Nordic region, you may need a residence permit. After accepting an offer, your department will help you start the application process with the Swedish Migration Agency.
