## Overview
The aim of this master’s programme is to strengthen the student’s historical knowledge and theoretical understanding of relations between literature, culture in general and modern media. Consequently, the literary text is studied from an intercultural and interdisciplinary perspective.
The programme offers nine different specializations: in Scandinavian studies and in Children's and Adolescent, English, French, General, German, Russian, Spanish, and Yiddish literature.
The programme consists of compulsory courses in English and individually selected courses within the various language orientations. Some courses are theoretical, discussing aesthetic and cultural topics of a general nature, while others are focused on specific literary genres, themes or historical periods. Critical attention is also given to the many forms in which literature enters the media and the public sphere in contemporary society.
The full programme comprises two years of study, but if you choose, you can take just one year. In both cases, the final examination consists of writing a Master’s thesis in Literature – Culture – Media.

### Prerequisites
A first-cycle degree (Bachelor’s degree), with 90 higher education credits in the chosen area of specialisation in the programme. Specialisation in Scandinavian Literature (SKAN): BA in Scandinavian Studies, including 90 credits in Scandinavian literature. English course 6 (advanced proficiency) and proficiency in Swedish, Danish or Norwegian.
### Selection criteria
Based on Bachelor’s degree project or equivalent, Grades for other courses relevant to the application, Statement of Purpose, Interview, in the priority order given

### Tuition fees for non-EU/EEA citizens
Citizens of countries outside:
- The European Union (EU)
- The European Economic Area (EEA) and
- Switzerland
are required to pay tuition fees. You pay an instalment of the tuition fee in advance of each \
semester.
