A thematic collaboration initiative at Lund University

[På svenska](https://www.lu.se/forskning/tematiska-samverkansinitiativ/klimatneutrala-stader-2030)

Malmö, Helsingborg and Lund aim to be climate-neutral cities by 2030. Lund University, in partnership with Malmö University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Alnarp), is supporting their climate goals through research and collaboration.

Accelerating the transformation towards climate-neutral cities will require a mutual exchange of ideas between researchers, city governments, businesses and other stakeholders in society.

## Knowledge platform for a local climate transition

*Climate-neutral Cities 2030 – Open Academy* is a knowledge platform that will support Malmö, Helsingborg and Lund to reach their goal of being climate-neutral by 2030.

The collaboration aims to develop more effective processes for a climate transition. Based on the challenges that the cities are facing and current research, joint discussions are taking place on how to shape their climate transition in the future.

Each year, participants choose to focus on a few key priority areas and develop proposals for future research and initiatives in areas such as energy, consumption and carbon storage. The demand for new knowledge will drive the introduction of new research areas over time.

## Boundary-crossing collaborations

The research platform brings together Lund University, Malmö University, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Alnarp), the City of Malmö, the City of Helsingborg, the City of Lund, the business community and other organisations.

Researchers from the three universities complement each other very well and contribute with knowledge from a number of different disciplines.
