Programme-specific entry requirements

In addition to the general entry requirements, you must meet the specific entry requirements as detailed by each programme. For example, many Master’s degree programmes require that your Bachelor’s degree has a particular major, or you may need to have completed certain subject credits within your Bachelor’s degree. The specific entry requirements for the programmes can be found under the programme webpages. Note that you may need to send additional documents with your application to show that you meet these specific requirements.

About the required supporting documents

English language proficiency

Most Lund University programmes and courses require English 6 (advanced level) language proficiency which is the equivalent of IELTS 6.5 (no section less than 5.5) or TOEFL 90. It is important that you check the programme or course as some programmes have a higher requirement for admission. There are different ways to prove that you meet the required English level.

Recognition of prior learning (RPL)

Students who do not meet all the academic requirements of the specific studies they have applied for may be able to apply for recognition of prior learning where their prior (non-academic) experience will be assessed. More information can be found below.

Information on recognition of prior learning

Before making your application for Bachelor’s or Master’s studies, it’s important to make sure that you meet both the general and specific entry requirements of the programme or course you wish to study, as mentioned above.

If you do not meet all the academic requirements of the specific studies that you are applying to, but believe that you have acquired the equivalent knowledge and skills in other ways (not through academic studies), you may be able to apply for an assessment of prior learning. This could be, for example, if you have gained the equivalent knowledge and skills through work experience, volunteering or non-academic courses.

Please note, if you only have formal academic qualifications that do not meet the specific entry requirements, this is not a valid reason to apply for recognition of prior learning.
