Below is a list of the terms of office of all the Vice-Chancellors of Lund University since the introduction of multiple-year terms of office in 1877.

Lund University’s first Vice-Chancellor was appointed in connection with the University’s inauguration in the spring semester of 1668. The first Vice-Chancellor was Professor of Theology Olof Bagger. In the autumn semester of the same year Vice-Chancellor number two, Professor of Roman Law Nils Beckman, took over the position. However, this quick changeover was not due to Bagger having misbehaved in some way – it was simply that the regulations stipulated the position of Vice-Chancellor was to rotate between the University’s professors each semester. Consequently, it was Olof Bagger’s turn again in the spring semester of 1676.

The term of office for the rotating vice-chancellorship was extended to one year in 1688. This system continued until 1877 when elected Vice-Chancellors were introduced with multiple-year terms of office. Below is a list of these Vice-Chancellors.
