Master d'Informatique - Information Quantique (IQ)

Application

Who can apply to the M1: Licence/Bachelor’s holders in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Mathematics. Students should have competences in mathematics and theoretical foundations of computer science, and a strong interest in physics. Knowledge of quantum physics is not required for the M1, as it is taught during the program. However, prospective students should be comfortable with linear algebra.

Bachelor’s holders in Physics with a strong background in Computer Science are also welcome, but we rather recommend the physics Master programs (The international Paris Physics Master and the Master Physique Fondamentale et Applications/profil Information Quantique) of Sorbonne Université, which both lead to our twin M2 program in the physics department, with which we share our quantum information courses.

Who can apply to the M2:M1 holders in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Mathematics. Students should already have basic knowledge of quantum information. Knowledge of quantum physics is absolutely required for the M2.

M1 holders in Physics with a strong background in Computer Science are also welcome, but we recommend our twin M2 program in the physics department, with which we share our quantum information courses.

How much does it cost and other practical information available here on Sorbonne Université's website

Doctoral and professional opportunities

Quantum Information specialists are currently in high demand, locally and internationally, both in academia, with numerous PhD programs, and in industry, with many start-ups and large companies being interested in quantum information.  Among other programs, the national « Plan Quantique » announced in January 2021 includes funding for 100 PhD grants and industry participation.
