Available pathways
During their Senior Fresh year, students follow one of the available pathways. Their exact options are depicted in this useful diagram and they are also briefly outlined below.
- Joint Honors pathway: Students continue with both subjects and take 20 credits in each subject along with 20 credits in Open Modules and Trinity Electives.
- Major with Minor pathway: Students continue with both subjects and take 40 credits in one subject along with 20 credits in the other.
- Single Honors pathway: Students drop one of their subjects and proceed with a Single Honors degree in their other subject. They take 40 credits in that subject along with 20 credits in Open Modules and Trinity Electives.
Students who continue with both subjects will be able to change their pathway a year later. However, they may not proceed with either a Single Honors degree in Mathematics or a major in Mathematics, unless they take 40 credits in Mathematics during their Senior Fresh year.
Open Modules and Trinity Electives
The term Trinity Electives refers to a collection of modules on various topics of general interest including modules in art, history, science and foreign languages, for instance. These are all modules that have no prerequisites, and the students that do not pursue a minor must take 1-2 Trinity Electives during their studies.
The term Open Modules refers to a collection of modules which are offered by other Schools. These are also modules of general interest, but some of them may have prerequisites, and some of them are only available for Mathematics students.
Both Trinity Electives and Open Modules are allocated on a first come first served basis.
