School Description:

The School has over two hundred research students pursuing  M.Sc., PhD or MD degrees.\ Research activities within the School  of Medicine are focused in six major thematic areas, Cancer, Genetics, Infection and Immunity, Molecular Medicine, Neurosciences and Population Health.

Research is undertaken at our teaching hospitals including, St James’s, the Trinity Centre at Tallaght University Hospital, and St Patrick’s. There is a major emphasis on Translational Research in the School, where research discoveries made in the laboratory can be advanced to a clinical setting to benefit human health. Trinity Translational Medicine Institute, based at St James’s, is a major centre for translational research. Research is also conducted in state of the art facilities at sites on the main Trinity campus including Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute and Trinity College Institute for Neuroscience.
