Create a reading list:
1. Select *My Lists* from the top left-hand-side of the screen.
2. Select *Create new list* from the top right-hand side of the screen. You will be directed to a new screen where you can start creating your reading list.
3. Under *List name,* type in the module code followed by the module name. Example: *TR001234: Art and Humanities Studies.* You can add a *Description* for your reading list. Please note: If your module is not listed, it can be added by contacting your Subject Librarian.
4. Click on *Hierarchy*. This will bring up the page *H**ierarchy & Students*. The hierarchy links your reading list to your module. This is required in order to make your reading list(s) discoverable to your students.
5. Search for your module code or name. A keyword search will produce a list from which you can select your module.
6. Select the appropriate module(s). Your module(s) will be linked to your newly created reading list. You can add multiple hierarchies or remove existing ones.
7. Select the academic *Year*.
8. Click *Create list*.
9. A *Search for list owner* window will appear - choose the *I am list owner* option. Your name will now appear below the reading list.
#### Alternatively, you can link to the Hierarchy after creating a reading list:
1. Select your reading list and click on *Edit*.
2. Select *Link to hierarchy* from the dropdown menu. This allows you to search for your module and link your reading list to the hierarchy.
3. Click *Save*.
4. Go to *My Lists* and you will now see that module to which the reading list is linked, under the *Linked to* heading in the table.
5. Click on the *Module code* displayed under *Linked to*.
6. Use the module URL to promote reading lists to students. It will follow the structure:
*https://tcdlibrary.rl.talis.com/modules/[module code].html*
Please note:
- The module URL is case sensitive.
- Using the module URL allows students to see all reading lists linked to a module and it will persist.
- The reading list URL will change each year and will break over time.
Edit a reading list:
1. Select the reading list from *My Lists* by clicking on the title.
2. Select *Edit list* from the drop-down *Edit* menu.
3. Edit your reading list by dragging and dropping new bookmarks, notes or sections into the reading list. You can also edit or remove items and edit item metadata.
4. Click *Save Draft to* save changes to your reading list.
Personalise your reading lists to reflect your preference when presenting materials to students:
1. Select your reading list from *My Lists*.
2. Click *Edit list* from the *Edit* drop-down menu on the top right-hand-side of the screen.
3. Drag and drop the *New Section* icon from the top right-hand-side of the screen to give the reading list some structure.
4. Give your section a title in the *Add Section* window.
5. Give notes to your students using the *Study note* field.
6. Click on *Save*. You can repeat the same process to create more sections and give each section a name.
7. When you are finished editing, click *Save Draft* on the top right-hand-side of the screen. You now have a reading list that needs to be populated with resources.
